Collaborative
Funding Initiatives
Supportive Housing
Overview
For over 15 years, the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority
(CHFA) has taken a leadership position in an interagency,
public-private collaboration with the goal of creating
Supportive Housing statewide.
Supportive Housing combines
decent, affordable permanent housing with individualized
health, support and employment services. Its effectiveness
rests on the understanding that providing housing and
ongoing comprehensive support to families and individuals
with chronic mental health challenges creates and
perpetuates stability in their lives. Supportive Housing is
designed to meet the needs of both the people to be served
and the communities where it is located.
Since 1993,
CHFA has been active in implementing Supportive Housing through collaborations
with the following public
agencies and private organizations:

Current Supportive Housing Initiatives involving
CHFA
As funding for Supportive Housing is made available, CHFA,
on behalf of the Interagency Committee for Supportive
Housing, issues Requests for Proposals (RFPs) soliciting applications
from interested developers. (See,
Requests for
Proposals for more information.)
Supportive housing developments that apply for CHFA
mortgage financing through a Request for Proposals must
comply with CHFA's Multifamily Underwriting Standards.
